Devon County League

The Devon County League was formed in 1992 to be a bridge between local leagues (Devon & Exeter League, North Devon League, Plymouth & District Combination and South Devon League) and the Western League. From its beginnings with 16 teams, the league has expanded to 20, Crediton United, Heavitree United and Ottery St Mary joining from the Western League and both Appledore and Holsworthy transferring from the South Western League

Willand Rovers became the first team from the league to compete in the F.A. Vase in 1998-99, and in 2001 became the first to be promoted to the first division of the Western League

A merger with the South Western League is under discussion, with a probable start date of 2007-08. If approved the new league would likely to be called the South West Peninsula League
